Why the cat sits through it

This is not a cordless handheld. The unit runs off the wall and draws up to 300 W at full suction, which is why it does not fade halfway through a session and why there is no battery in it to wear out over a year. Groom within reach of an outlet. The clipper attachment is the one part that runs on batteries: two AA cells, so it can be used away from the base.

How to start with a nervous cat

Run it on the lowest mode near your cat for a minute without touching them, then begin at the shoulders and work backwards in short passes. Clear the brush head when it loads up rather than forcing it through a knot — anything already matted is a job for the clipper head first.
